Child Rescue Kenya (CRK) is a registered community-based organization in Kitale, Trans-Nzoia County. Established in 2011 as a non-profit NGO, CRK exists to transform the lives of vulnerable children, youth, and families through rescue, rehabilitation, family reintegration, and empowerment programs. We are registered with the Department of Social Services in Kenya, and our projects are recognized by the Ministry of Gender and Children Affairs. CRK’s work goes beyond charity—it is about building dignity, resilience, and opportunity. Through social services, guidance, and financial support, we help children return home safely, empower youth with skills for self-reliance, and strengthen families to prevent children from drifting back to the streets.

Our History

  • 1988 – International Childcare Trust (ICT): The first organization was established as a division of ICT, focusing on rescuing and rehabilitating street children.
  • 2003 – Child Rescue Kenya: The NGO adopted the name Child Rescue Kenya and shifted from traditional charity work to becoming a development facilitator, emphasizing empowerment and sustainability.
  • 2011 – Registration in Kitale: CRK became a fully registered community-based organization in Trans-Nzoia County, Kenya, recognized by the Department of Social Services.
  • Impact: Since then, CRK has supported thousands of children and youth with social services, vocational training, counselling, and family reintegration, positively touching more than 50,000 lives.

How we work

Practical care that continues beyond the first rescue.

Our social workers build trust on the streets and in communities, involve children and families in decisions, and stay present through follow-up visits, school monitoring, counselling, and practical support.
